APRIL 24: The second phase of polling on Thursday (yesterday) was reported to be by and large peaceful across the country.
The prominent voters in included Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and his wife Gursharan Gaur who cast their votes at a polling station located at Sarumatoria in Dispur under the Guwahati Lok Sabha constituency. Dr. Singh was elected to the Rajya Sabha from Assam. This is the first time exercised his vote in his "home state of Assam". In Amethi, contested by Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi, the poll went off without any incident.
In Bangalore, Pu Hmar Tlawmte Sangliana also cast his vote with his wife Pi Rothangpuii. Pu Sangliana is in a three-cornered contest with the BJP and JD(S) as his main opponents from the newly created Bangalore Central constituency.
