BANGALORE, APRIL 10: Voters were in for a surprise as candidate from Bangalore Central, H T Sangliana moved with a posse of commandos during his election campaign on Friday.
Sangliana was provided with ‘Z’ grade security, a week after he voted in favour of Congress-led UPA government at the Centre last year, defying his party’s (BJP, then) whip to vote against the government.
Sources close to Sangliana said he was given ‘Z’ grade security after he was allegedly threatened inside the Parliament by MPs Siddeshwara, Ananth Kumar Hegde, state BJP chief Sadananda Gowda and Prahlad Joshi soon after the vote of confidence.
“There is threat to Sangliana’s life from the BJP and the forces which attacked Churches and minorities recently in the State as he had been quite vocal against them,” said one of the supporters of Sangliana.
Altogether he has got 18 commandoes to protect him.
