Aizawl: The Chairman, Vice Chairman and 16 members of Sinlung Hills Development Council have tendered their resignation to show their support to the Hmar Peoples’ Convention (D).
Chairman of Sinlung Hills Development Council Mr. Malsawma Darngawn said, they have tendered their resignation to Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla and the Governor in the first week of March at the request of the HPC(D) leadership.
He also said, this action is taken to prove their solidarity with the HPC(D) in their talks with representatives of the Government.
As reported earlier, the talks between the Government and the HPC(D) is yet to begin. A rift developed after the first round of talks held in Aizawl on 11th November last year over persons to represent the HPC(D) in the talks. While the Govt. is firm on its stand that representatives of the militants should be persons from Mizoram, the HPC(D) leadership is interested in inclusion of persons outside the state.
