BANGALORE, MARCH 27: The Congress top boss will have the last word on who will be fielded from six contentious Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka as the party
dithers over releasing its list of candidates for the 28 constituencies in the state.
While the list of candidates has been finalised for most seats, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has been requested to step in as the final arbiter for four constituencies in Bangalore as well the Mandya and Chitradurga seats, party sources said.
On Tuesday, word was spread that the Congress list for the southern state would be released in the national capital, but the party only flattered to deceive. It has been unable to resolve the differences over some key seats amid concerns that those denied a chance to contest could rebel or even desert it.
The Bangalore North, Bangalore South, Bangalore Central and Bangalore Rural constituencies have been particularly tricky to handle for the parliamentary board, which has tossed the ball into Ms Gandhi’s court.
