ReplyDelete1. Cultural Mappin is the need of the hour now. It is almost too late. If someone ventures to take up this project even at his own personal expense, it is to be fully support. Because the finding of this project will bring Hmars and other kindred clans closer than before.
2. No at all, because no part of the world/no type, however small, can't escape the quest for new knowledge. Eg. Some research scholars in French and American Universities take up the Meetei diaspora in Burma(Myanmar). No North-east India has been a green pasture for researchers from abroad. If we don't some definitely come and do it and the benefit will go them...!!!
3. Definitely. Intensive and extensive are going on both in Indian & foreign Universities on these people. Therefore, this Cultural Mapping, if completed successfully, will be a mine information/knowledge.
4. Pu. L. Keivom has started the ground work and young scholars must follow suit.
5. Is Hmar itself a nationality...!!!?? Of course it may or can be in the process of Nationality Formation.

1.Better late than never. Cultural mapping of Hmar suoipui is the need of the hour. If Pu Keivom has started the project even at his cost, let us support him. Through this project, we shall be able to recover many of our forgotten treasures like our folk songs, etc and history.

3.Not only the Kuki-Chin-Mizo tribes, all the North Eastern people and Southeast Asia will benefit from it. Now NEI has become the cynosure of researchers in India and abroad. If we don’t do it, someone will come and do it and the benefit will go to them. Can we afford to go to British Museum and US Congress Library? Very few of us. Whatever information we can collect today, let’s do it before it is too late.
4. Please don’t be pessimistic, my dear. Many young scholars will follow suit. In this age of globalization, many of our young scholars start working on Southeast Asian tribes, not to speak of NEI. Some young scholars from France, for instance, has taken up Meitei Diaspora in Burma(Myanmar.)
5. We talk about Hmar nationalism, e.g., Hmar National Union, Hmar National…..so on and so forth. Are you certain whether or nor Hmar is a Nationality, of course, Hmar can be in the process of nationality formation. Is she a nationality now. Before we debate on this issue, I request to read Paul R.Brass’ book on “Ethnicity and Nationality.” Cheers...!!!
